A New Approach to Business in 2025

What if there was a different, more sustainable way to approach business in 2025 that did not include burnout and hustle?

9 years ago, I gave up dieting for good. I was sick and tired of the yo-yo effect of restrictive diets. I was sick and tired of basing my worth on a number on the scale. This didn’t mean that I didn’t want to be healthy, I just wanted to redefine health and approach it in a way that felt good for me.

Over the past several years, I decided to work backwards. Instead of thinking that weight loss would make me feel good, I decided I would focus on feeling good first. And what happened, was I started to feel and be healthier than ever both mentally AND physically.

So what if we applied this same principle to the way that we run our businesses?

Just like I used to be obsessed with a number on the scale, in business we are obsessed with money. We are all hustling to reach an arbitrary level of income because the world decided that if you aren’t making 6 or 7 figures, you are not yet successful.

This brings me to step 1:

Redefine success

What does having a successful business look and feel like to you? If making $100,000 per year is what success looks like, what happens if you make $97,000? Are you unsuccessful? Is success solely defined by income or are their other ways to define success in your business?

Now step 2:

Focus on feeling good first.

We want to build our own businesses so that we can make an impact doing what we love, while having the freedom to live life on our own terms. But what tends to happen, is we get so caught up in building this business that it becomes all consuming. This is ultimately what leads to burnout.

  • If your ultimate goal is to work less, what if you experimented with shortening your work week now?

  • If your ultimate goal is to be more present with your loved ones, why not be more intentional about being present with them during the times you are together now?

  • If your ultimate goal is to donate thousands of dollars to charity, how can you start with a couple of dollars or a few hours of your time now?

The old belief is that if we work hard enough, and if we’re disciplined enough, we can feel good later. But I believe, that if you are intentional and focusing on feeling good first, you will reach your goals in a sustainable way. Burnout NOT mandatory.
